Coach Antony Brittain didn’t seem overly confident in the chances of this four-year-old son of Lope De Vega, but the horse again ran a superb run out of beat to finish just a length and a quarter behind Copper. Knight.
Mondammej has come close in similar competitions this year and the hope is that his day in the sun will arrive soon, as long as the pitch stays on the fast side.
The only problem is his running style – he needs to be supported, which isn’t useful for those big-field handicap sprints and means he needs everything to go right – but he sets up well and is much simpler than in his youth.

Owner Nick Bradley will likely evaluate more group racing options for Hellomydarlin after running a cracker carrying the highest weight in a fiercely competitive nursery.
Having been delayed early, she looked like she was about to get up in the finals and fared better than the ones coming from the pace.
The form of her narrow victory over Zain Claudette on her Goodwood debut is improving all the time and it shouldn’t be long before she regains the lead.

It has been a memorable week for Tim Easterby and his confidence in this two year old filly before the precious sales run was justified after she ran a crushing race to finish second off the neck.
Atomic Lady split two smart colts in Ever Given and Wings Of War posting a career best effort and battling the line, suggesting she’ll have no problem staying further.
A rise in the handicap will take place on Tuesday but Atomic Lady could well have black on its list by the end of the season, such is its evolving profile.

Roger Fell won a fillies handicap with The Flying Ginger ultra-match in York on Friday, but his teammate La Trinidad could be the one to come out of the game.
The progressive four-year-old entered the mile handicap the day before thanks to two course wins and still seems to be improving.

Although he could only finish ninth in a competitive field, that owed a lot to the fact that he had to get out of the rhythm in a week when it was decidedly difficult.
It will benefit from a very good pace and can be adapted by a slightly longer journey; Either way, he could get another handicap this season.

Harrow (one) and Maglev (four) benefited from low draws in this valuable 7f nursery, so Alflaila (16) performance can certainly be improved. In fact, if he had been pulled low, he could very well have won.
He was forced to do everything on his own on the right side and the fact that he was able to fight for the second time marks him as a well handicapped youngster. Indeed, he looks like an actor in the making.
He was ranked 88 on Thursday, so he will probably be pushed to around 90, but he can win and don’t be surprised to see him compete in Group races before the end of the season.

Having been ranked up to 102 as a minor, John and Thady Gosden’s inmate hasn’t made much progress this quarter, but she has been broadly consistent and had her best performance of 2021 staying fourth in this area.

The way she finished suggests she needs a mile now, and she could be treated well from her 96 mark if she finds the right opportunity.
The fast pitch clearly suits him, so hopefully relationships can find him a nice price before the fall begins.

Making his debut for in-form trainer Grant Killer, King Triton ran an encouraging run for his new relationship, staying well after being caught a bit flat when the pace initially picked up.
He was allowed to be a little rusty on his first start for over two months and, with just four runs behind him, there should be plenty more to come.
There is quite a bit of stamina on his mother’s side and he can be seen with the best effect going up to a mile and a quarter. There is certainly leeway and he has the potential to become a Saturday Horse to Kill and his owner Ed Ware.

It might sound foolish to recommend a horse with lifetime form figures of 4470, but Harzand’s son, who was trained by David Menuisier, is likely to be able to become a winner before long.
