During the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022, Bethesda announced that Fallout 76 – Expeditions: The Pitt would launch in September 2022 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
The Pitt is the next major content update for Fallout 76. It was originally announced in last year’s showcase, and it appeared earlier this year in a roadmap infographic. You’ll travel to post-war Pittsburgh to team up with Union freedom fighters seeking to reclaim their home from fanatical looters.
The update also adds the titular Expeditions – random, repeatable 4-player end-game raid events that can net players rare rewards.

New location: The Pitt
For the first time since Fallout 3, players are invited back to post-war Pittsburgh. Once a beacon of industry, nuclear war ravaged the former great city. Rising radiation levels mutated its citizens, causing conflict and warring factions to emerge from the chaos. Defend yourself against all sorts of creatures, including the return of the deadly and aggressive Trogs, as you explore the dense city streets and underground maze of The Pitt.
Expeditions
Expeditions are large-scale, repeatable missions for groups of up to 4 players. From Whitespring Refuge in Appalachia, players will power up a Vertibird to transport them to the heart of The Pitt. What awaits you are random, repeatable end-game missions designed to test the most experienced and prepared parties. Conquer Expeditions to earn Stamps, a new currency redeemable for powerful and rare Expedition-themed rewards.
New story, factions and rewards
Expeditions: The Pitt introduces a new story centered around two warring factions: the blue-collar freedom fighters of the Union and the power-hungry faction of the Zealots. Fight for the Union to help get their home back. Meet its eccentric and mechanically adept rulers, discover the uneasy bonds between them, and discover how the toxic wasteland of The Pitt drives its inhabitants mad. Earn Union favor to earn powerful new weapons and armor crafted by Union mechanics.
