Formica Corporation’s 2022 Living Impressions™ Collection Stands Out With Versatile New Designs

  • Light and white: Homeowners continue to turn to light and white spaces for a sense of serenity and calm, but with new nuances such as translucent elements.
  • Rustic luxury: This trend evokes a feeling of warmth and ease with casual design elements that feature natural texture like wood grains or metals that patina over time.
  • New classic: Blending classic and new design, this eclectic trend has broad appeal and accommodates many design tastes with practical, simple and accessible palettes and materials with just a hint of drama. This often comes to life in crisp white backgrounds with dramatic veining or bold, aged metals.

“Our homes have become so much more than just living spaces,” said Gerri Chmiel, Head of Residential Design at Formica Corporation. “Homeowners are looking for simple, minimalist spaces that bring them peace and calm, but they also don’t want their home to feel austere. We see them looking for materials with natural textures like patina that feel clean while making a statement. And perhaps most importantly, these surfaces must be maintenance-free and withstand the rigors of everyday life and versatile use. This juxtaposition is something Formica® The brand’s products are perfectly suited to meet this and these ideas have strongly influenced our latest collection.”

New 180fx® by Formica Group Designs
Revolutionary surface line that delivers true-to-scale granite, stone, and woodgrain patterns with visual drama expands with five new designs that showcase handcrafted artwork, soft white marbles , elaborate veins and more.

White alabaster: The icy white veins create a webbed network on a soft off-white background to give the illusion of translucency.

Manhattan Marble: Dramatic taupe and warm gray veining runs diagonally across this milky white Calacatta marble design while shades of blue-gray add elegance.

Mediterranean marble: This large-scale pattern brings sweeping motion with a stone that features a light white background with neutral gray and beige veining.

Marble of the woods: Reminiscent of a wood grain, this veined marble design features bold organic stripes in warm shades of brown.

Marble grey: Formica Corporation has partnered with the artist Kathleen Streitenberger a second time to take the marble in a new direction. This pattern incorporates new painted effects formed by shades of dripping, swirling and vitrifying gray paint. Streitenberger created the Watercolor Series artwork in the brand’s 2020 Living PrintsCollection.

new formica® Layered designs
Living impressions 2022 Collection adds nine sophisticated new Formicas® Laminate surfaces that reflect natural materials such as wood and metal while being durable, economical and easier to install and maintain than their real-world counterparts.

Patina Series: Universally appreciated, patinas signify the ability of a surface to resist time while giving it character and history.

  • Patina Concrete: Features a light gray background with gray marbling effects and a porous visual texture. Although man-made, concrete is created from natural materials with an aging process that creates dynamic color effects.
  • Bronze Patina: Gold, copper, brown and khaki green blend together to create this elegantly mottled design.

Burnished Series: Developed to imitate soft metals that have been mechanically burnished to appear rich in luster.

  • Burnished piece: Copper, green and gray are fused together to create the colors of a burnished copper penny.
  • Burnished iron: Features a combination of blue-black, rust and gray to mimic the sleek look of aged iron.

Cascade of white pearls: This innovative design features pearlescent white pigments that are applied during the traditional papermaking process. When paired with the new Monolith texture, this contemporary pattern has a subtle sheen with shimmering ribbons.

Sugar glass: Inspired by the beauty of experimental glass making, this ethereal pattern is designed to reflect translucent blue-gray glass floating within a white sheet of opaque glass.

Smoked Onyx: This glamorous pattern makes a dramatic impact with its rich, translucent appearance that blends a multitude of colors in a sophisticated smoky gray palette.

Black slate: Rich in texture, the uniqueness of this stone is enhanced with blacks and grays that blend together to give a monochromatic contemporary look.

Walnut butcher block: This luxurious butcher block design was created in the popular fashion and is constructed with long strips of walnut glued together so that each strip runs the full length of a countertop with no end grain seams.

New Texture
Living impressions 2022 includes a new texture to enhance these new surface designs and several others in Formica Corporation’s existing portfolio.

Monolith (ML): Offers an authentic stone feel combined with a matte look. This texture is unique because it features a large-scale flowing pattern with no repeats in a sheet of laminate.
