George F. Fish

MANISTIQUE – George Fredrick Fish, 79 of Manistique, Michigan, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on July 5, 1942 in Jackson, Michigan, the son of George and Ruth (Eckb erg-Schmitt) Fish. George attended Manistic schools and graduated from Manistic High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran.

George married Deanna Marie Gierke in Manistique on July 14, 1973. He was a carpenter and welder by trade and worked for various companies throughout his career.

George was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, a former Commanding Officer of VFW Post 4420 and a member of the Moose and Eagles of Manistique.

George enjoyed gold panning, metal scrapping and metal detecting, maple tapping, stamp collecting, arrowhead hunting and collecting coins, can openers and many more unique items.

George is survived by his wife Deanna Fish; his son Chris (Kathleen) Fish of Mayville, Michigan; his daughters, Corrinna Collins of Debeque, Colorado, Ardie Ward of Hunington, Utah, and Kim Woody of Janesville,

Manistic fish; sisters, Myrna Wells of Mundelein, Illinois and Minta Fish of Manistique; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lora Buchanan; his son, Rick Fish; daughter, Gail Faketty; brother, Chuck Fish; and his sister, Dawn Tuffnell.
