HILLSDALE – Hillsdale Community Kids College is preparing for its eighth year of summer day camp the first week of August at Hillsdale Free Methodist Church.
The camp, for children ages 7-14, is sponsored by the Hillsdale Area Ministerial Association, offering skills-based electives throughout the morning from 9 a.m. to noon August 2-6. . The church is located at 150 Union Street with entrances from Union and Hillsdale streets.
Principal Pat Baughman, pastor of La Fayette St. Church of Christ, said the camp’s stated mission is, first, to teach children about Jesus Christ, and second, to provide children with a solid understanding of life skills useful and necessary. Each participant will be able to choose two courses (among 15 available) to follow throughout the week.
New courses offered this year are Tai Quan Dao, Chess, Stamp Collecting, Gardening, and Recycled Art.
âThere are still many niches available in cooking, crafting, martial arts, guitar basics, piano, kente weaving, rocket models, fishing and game play. company, âBaughman said.
Baughman said classes are filling up, so kids can enroll by doing a Google search for Hillsdale Community Kid’s College.
âThis will bring them to our website at hillsdalecommunity.wixsite.com/kids,â Baughman said. “There they can sign up for two different courses which they will attend each day for the whole week.”
