After a year off, the MOON Coin Show returns to the Brooklyn Center on Friday. The show is Minnesota’s largest coin show.

The show is sponsored by the Minnesota Organization of Numismatists (MOON).

“You can find everything from A to Z about it. There will be everything of all bullion products you can think of. Lots and lots of collector’s items, because all the dealers are involved in it. Also this year we were going to have a Rolex dealership. He’s a watch dealer that sells high end watches and stuff. On top of that, we’ll have two of the biggest coin and currency dealers in the Midwest. And in fact, stamp supplies too, ”said Lee Orr, owner of Great Lakes Coins and Collectibles.

Orr is also a member of the Minnesota Numismatists Organization as the Stock Exchange Master for the MOON Show.

Renewed interest

Orr said there has been a strong resurgence in coin collecting as well as bullion buying over the past year. It has seen many new collectors enter the market and seasoned collectors renew their interest in their collections. Orr said the prices reflected in the online auctions show strong demand overall. He said the market is the strongest he has seen in the past 15 years.

There will be 116 tables with nearly 100 dealers from across the country who will buy and sell coins and bars.

The MOON Coin Show begins Friday at noon at the Earle Brown Heritage Center, 6155 Earle Brown Drive Brooklyn Center, MN 55430. Hours are:

  • Friday October 8 from noon to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday October 9 from 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
  • Sunday, October 10, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
