Deputy Labor Party leader Angela Rayner said the party “must become the government our nation deserves, not the one it has” as she addressed members at the conference in Brighton.

She presented the party’s new green paper for workers, including improvements to pay, job security and equality.

Ms Rayner pledged to increase sick pay as she criticized the Conservative government and pledged “their time is up”.

She pledged to “eradicate the sordid conservative that has polluted our politics and corrupted our democracy” by outlining proposed reforms to workers’ rights.

Ms Rayner told delegates: “What a contrast to a government taking £ 1,400 out of a nurse’s pockets as more than £ 2 billion in taxpayer money has been handed out to Tory donors and friends of ministers .

“There is only one rule with this Cabinet and that is that there is a rule for them and a rule for all of us.”

She claimed that Tory ministers had used “the public treasury as a personal cash machine” and added: “We will stop shady deals giving public money to fellow ministers. This is bad news for my landlord. of publicity, but good news for the public.

“And let me tell you this – as the minister of purchasing, I won’t sign a single penny that goes to a company that exploits its workers or doesn’t pay its taxes.

“We are going to root out the corruption of the Conservatives that has polluted our politics and corrupted our democracy. The racketeering is over. Their time is up.”

She said if Labor came to power the party would make “common decency and fairness the rule of our economy”.

From day one people will receive sick pay, flexible working and a new deal for workers.

“I am not presenting to you a policy document that will sit on the shelf collecting dust,” she said.

“Let’s make it real. And so, every worker in every workplace, in every corner of our country, that with their support, their life, their work and their community can and will be better.

“We will empower people to have a say in their own professional lives, and overall we know that our greatest power does not come when we are alone, but when we stand up and work together.” throughout history. “

She also mentioned Marcus Rashford – the second time the Manchester United footballer has been praised at the party conference.

Ms Rayner was applauded and kissed by party leader Sir Keir Starmer after the speech. He appeared to have been defeated by his attempts to reform Labor Party electoral rules.
